Yes, Leonardo Da Vinci besides being a painter, sculptor, architect, engineer, mathematician, anatomist, musician and inventor, was also a great fan of cooking.
The Tuscan genius, in the unusual dress of the chef for Lodovico il Moro, Duke of Milan, being given instructions to prepare something using lettuce, rooster’s crest and bread, invents a sandwich ancestor but failing in giving it a name: “I thought I would take a piece of meat and put it between two slices of bread: but how can I call this dish?”
Lord Sandwich would name that dish only two centuries later, but this is another story...
