Prosecco

Prosecco like Champagne and Stilton Cheese is protected by a DOC (Denominazione di origine controllata) which means it can only be called Prosecco if it is grown and made in a very restricted area of Italy the Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia area. Prosecco is so carefully controlled by Italian wine producers that you cannot even call it Prosecco if it the only difference is it is pink rather than white!
